Meadowbrook Farm
Meadowbrook Farm Estate Vineyard lies in the mouth of the Dry Creek canyon, in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. The cool air rolls down from Mount Veeder, shielding the grapes from the intense afternoon sun. Harbored by the coolness of the vineyard, the fruit develops a uniquely strong backbone of acidity and tannin. Deposited by Dry Creek over hundreds of years, the soil is composed of thin layers of clay interspersed with coarse sand, underlain with dry cobbles and silt. Farmed organically by Steve Matthiasson, this vineyard is a testimonial to old school Napa Cabernet winemaking.
Las Madres
Our flagship vineyard, nestled in the rolling hills of Carneros, Las Madres is one of the premier Syrah vineyards in all of California. Owners John Painter and Jean Gadiot planted their favorite varietal, Syrah, among a sea of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir plantings. What results is a cool climate grape with a tremendous complexity that is not often found in Sonoma County. Planted to clones 174 and 300, this vineyard is hand farmed sustainably as a labor of love.
Bengier Vineyard
The Oak Knoll soils of the Bengier Vineyard are primarily sedimentary, gravelly, alluvial loams, with an alluvial fan washed down from the Mayacamas Mountains by Dry Creek. Tucked at the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains, the slightly sloping land tends to be cooler than most of the Napa Valley due to late afternoon shade. We source our unique Ribolla Gialla from this unusual vineyard. With 2.5 acres planted of Ribolla Gialla, it is the largest vineyard of its kind in California, organically farmed by Steve Matthiasson, and one of the most unique wines in our portfolio.
